Navi Mumbai Airport Receives First Factory-Delivered Commercial Aircraft
Navi Mumbai International Airport received a brand-new airplane for the first time.
The airplane belongs to Akasa Air and is a Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Its registration number is VT-YBR.
It flew from Seattle in the United States to Iceland, then Egypt, and finally India.
The plane landed at the airport at 4 a.m.
on Thursday.
This was an important first for the recently opened airport.
Akasa Air now has 41 airplanes.
The airline expects to receive four more airplanes this year.
Akasa Air’s new Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered VT-YBR, landed at Navi Mumbai International Airport at 4 a.m. Thursday.
The aircraft became the first new commercial aircraft delivered directly from a factory to the airport.
It flew a three-leg journey from Boeing’s Field in Seattle through Reykjavik and Cairo.
The arrival followed NMIA’s start of international operations on July 15 and freighter operations on August 16.
VT-YBR became Akasa Air’s 41st aircraft, with four more expected to arrive this year.
