Centre Outlines Development Steps for Bhadrachalam-Visakhapatnam Road Corridor
A leader in India's Parliament asked a question about making a road better.
The road connects two places called Bhadrachalam and Visakhapatnam.
A minister named Nitin Gadkari gave the answer.
He said the government is listening to states that want their roads to become National Highways.
National Highways are big roads that the central government takes care of.
He said the government pays extra attention to roads in tribal areas and places affected by Left Wing Extremism.
The government approved road projects worth Rs 2,170 crore for some areas in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
It also approved projects worth Rs 1,711 crore under a special plan to help tribal people.
Part of the route is already a two-lane highway, and it joins a big six-lane highway that goes through Visakhapatnam.
So the government is working step by step to make travel on this route easier.
BRS Parliamentary Party Leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra sought details in the Rajya Sabha on steps being taken to develop the Bhadrachalam-Visakhapatnam road corridor.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said proposals were being received from state governments and Union Territories to declare state roads as National Highways.
Gadkari said decisions on National Highways consider connectivity, with special attention to tribal and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, traffic density and alignment with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
Road projects worth Rs 2,170 crore were sanctioned under the Road Connectivity Scheme for LWE-affected areas in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, plus Rs 1,711 crore under the Tribal Sub-Plan.
Bhadrachalam is connected to Chintur via two-lane NH-30; the corridor runs on through Seeleru, Chintapalli, Narsipatnam and Tallapalem to six-lane NH-16, which passes through Visakhapatnam.
