Opposition Criticises Anti‑Paper Leak Bill, Demands Accountability
Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior opposition politician, spoke in the Rajya Sabha about a new law that tries to stop exam papers from being leaked.
He said the law only adds fines and courts but doesn’t fix the real problem of how exams are run.
Kharge also accused the Home Minister of ordering police to use lathi charges, tear gas and pellet guns on students who were protesting.
He said more than 100 students were hurt and some were in hospitals.
The bill was passed after a heated debate and a walkout by opposition MPs.
Kharge wants the government to explain how it will stop leaks and to answer questions about the police actions.

Kharge accused the government of ignoring 2024 demands for stricter law and of removing Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to appease youth protests.
He highlighted that over 100 students were injured, some hospitalized, and called for a government statement on July 20 police actions.
