Dairy Analogue Products Worth ₹4.72 Lakh Seized in Indore
The government in Madhya Pradesh made a rule: foods that look like milk products but are not really made from milk are not allowed.
These pretend milk foods are called 'dairy analogues.'
Some shops in the city of Indore were making and selling these banned foods.
Officials checked the shops and took away lots of these products.
In total, they collected about 1,816 kilograms, worth about ₹4.72 lakh.
Paneer and mawa are foods that are normally made from milk.
Officials found fake versions at four different places.
At one factory, they also saw dirty walls and messy storage, so they told it to stop working.
Samples were sent to a laboratory to be tested.
After the lab reports come back, the people responsible may face punishment under the law.
The Food Safety Administration seized approximately 1,816 kg of dairy analogue products valued at about ₹4.72 lakh from establishments in Indore.
The action enforced the Madhya Pradesh government's ban on the manufacture, storage, sale, supply, distribution and use of dairy analogues.
About 450 kg of paneer worth ₹1.17 lakh was seized from Umapati Industries in Palda, where poor drainage, dirty walls and improper storage were found.
Around 350 kg of paneer worth ₹1.05 lakh was seized from Narayan Dairy in village Akwi, Mhow, with three samples collected.
Approximately 716 kg of dairy analogue mawa worth ₹2 lakh was seized from Mohani Mawa Bhandar and 300 kg of mawa worth ₹50,000 from Shri Balaji Trading.
Food samples from all establishments have been sent for laboratory testing, with further action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 to follow.
