Kerala travel agency to pay Rs 5 lakh to tourists
15-km walk to Vaishno Devi without ‘travel help’, agency to pay Rs 5 lakh to travellers · indianexpress.com

A group of 22 people paid money to a travel company to help them visit temples and see Kashmir.

The company promised to arrange hotels, buses, and other help.

But when the group arrived at the train station, nobody from the company was there.

The travellers had to pay extra money on their own.

They even had to walk about 15 kilometres to reach the Vaishno Devi Temple.

The group leader complained to a consumer court in Kerala.

The court said the travel company did something wrong.

The court ordered the company to pay back more than 5 lakh rupees.

The company did not show up to defend itself.

This ruling shows that companies must do what they promise when people pay them.
