Andhra Pradesh Plans Roads Linking Over 100 Pilgrimage Centres
The Andhra Pradesh government wants to make it easier for people to visit temples in rural and remote places.
It plans to build or improve nearly 205 kilometres of roads.
These roads will connect more than 100 pilgrimage centres.
The project is expected to cost about Rs 120 crore.
The roads will also help people reach schools, hospitals and farms.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan supported the plan after seeing that some temples had poor road access.
So far, 26 road projects are complete and ready to open.
More roads are still being built, including routes to Puttaparthi.
Officials have been told to make the roads strong and check their quality.
Andhra Pradesh plans to connect more than 100 pilgrimage centres through nearly 205 kilometres of roads.
The initiative is estimated to cost Rs 120 crore and also prioritises routes to schools, hospitals and agricultural fields.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan ordered the programme after observing poor access to several remote temples and receiving devotees’ requests.
Twenty-six road projects have been completed and are ready for inauguration, while work on about 40 per cent of the remaining projects is around halfway complete.
The government has allocated Rs 30 crore for roads leading to Puttaparthi, with nearly 72 kilometres of work underway in Sri Sathya Sai district.
