Amarnath Yatra Concludes After 4.8 Lakh Devotees Visit
The Amarnath Yatra is a religious journey to a cave shrine in the mountains.
In 2026, more than 4.8 lakh people made the trip.
They used the Pahalgam and Baltal routes to reach the shrine.
The pilgrimage began on July 3 and ends on August 28.
Its closing day is also Raksha Bandhan.
A sacred object called Chhadi Mubarak is brought to the cave to mark the ending.
Inside the cave, very cold water freezes into an ice shape that devotees worship as Lord Shiva.
Another pilgrimage to the Baba Buddha Amarnath Temple in Poonch is also ending after 12 days.
The 57-day Amarnath Yatra will conclude on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.
More than 4.8 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine through the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
The closing ceremony includes the arrival of the sacred Chhadi Mubarak, led by Mahant Dipendra Giri.
Devotees prayed at the cave shrine, located at approximately 3,888 metres, seeking Lord Shiva’s blessings.
The 12-day Buddha Amarnath Yatra in Poonch district is also scheduled to conclude during Shravan.
