Chhari Mubarak Begins Final Amarnath Pilgrimage Rituals Amid Disruptions
The Chhari-Mubarak is a sacred mace connected with Lord Shiva.
On August 22, Mahant Deependra Giri and other sadhus carried it from Srinagar toward the Amarnath cave.
They first performed special prayers and chanted Vedic hymns at a temple.
The procession will stop at places such as Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni.
Special prayers and viewing ceremonies are planned at the cave on August 28.
The regular pilgrimage was stopped earlier because rain and damaged paths made travel difficult.
The special religious ceremonies are still continuing even though ordinary pilgrims cannot use the route normally.
Giri said the prayers would include wishes for peace and prosperity.
