Maharashtra Studies Andhra Pradesh’s Technology-Driven Fisheries Model
Maharashtra’s fisheries minister visited Andhra Pradesh to learn how it supports fishing and fish farming.
Officials showed him tools that use computers and sensors to help raise fish and monitor their health and water.
They also discussed ways to grow seaweed, raise fish in ocean cages and make coastal villages better able to handle climate challenges.
The minister studied how fish can move from hatcheries and farms to processing, cold storage and markets.
He said Maharashtra will consider which ideas could work there.
The goal is to help fishers and fish farmers earn more.
Maharashtra also wants to use its coastal and inland waters productively.
Officials from both states took part in the meeting.
Maharashtra Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane visited Andhra Pradesh’s Fisheries Commissionerate in Vijayawada during a two-day official study tour.
Officials presented technologies including AI-driven aquaculture, water-quality monitoring, smart feeding, IoT systems and fish-tracking tools.
The delegation reviewed seaweed cultivation, artificial reefs, open-sea cage culture and climate-resilient coastal fishing villages.
Rane examined Andhra Pradesh’s value chain linking hatcheries, feed production, fish farming, processing, cold storage, markets and exports.
