Uttar Pradesh Liquor Exports Surge As Global Markets Open

Uttar Pradesh is selling much more locally made alcohol to other countries.

Its liquor exports grew much faster than India’s overall exports.

The state is now the third-largest liquor-exporting state in India.

A new three-year policy made exporting cheaper by removing some fees.

It also lowered certain bottling charges for liquor and beer sent overseas.

These changes are encouraging companies to build or restart factories.

Several projects are being developed in places such as Unnao, Hardoi and Moradabad.

Officials say the industry also supports farming, packaging, transport and storage businesses.
