Loreto College Hosts Inaugural Model United Nations Conference
Loreto College in Kolkata held its first Model United Nations conference.
It took place on October 3 and 4, 2026.
Students from 22 colleges came together.
They acted as delegates in groups that discussed international and national issues.
Some groups looked at women’s issues and disarmament, while another simulated India’s Lok Sabha.
Students practised researching, speaking, listening and negotiating.
They also worked together to prepare draft resolutions.
Those resolutions will be sent to the United Nations through Sr Cynthia.
The conference aimed to connect what students learn in class with real-world discussions.
Loreto College (Autonomous), Kolkata, held its first LC MUN on October 3 and 4, 2026.
The national-level conference brought together students from 22 colleges for two days of debate and diplomacy.
The event was organised by Loreto College’s MUN Cell and Department of Political Science with the Kolkata Oxford Debating Circuit.
Four committees simulated international and parliamentary forums, including the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and Lok Sabha.
Participating committees prepared draft resolutions that will be forwarded to the United Nations through Sr Cynthia.
