Pune CNG network to get boost amid demand spike
In the Indian city of Pune, many people use a special gas called CNG to power their cars and buses.
Because lots of people are using it now, some places far away don't get enough gas, especially when everyone needs it at the same time.
A company called MNGL helps bring this gas to the city.
They said they will make the gas pipes better.
In a place called Talegaon, they are almost done fixing the pipes.
This will help more gas flow to people who need it.
The company says the problem is not that there isn't enough gas, just that the pipes can't deliver it fast enough in some spots.
They are also building more places where people can fill up their vehicles with CNG.
The number of gas stations has grown from 66 to 133.
The new pipe work should be finished by August 20.
Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) announced a phased programme to boost the CNG distribution network in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Immediate interventions at Talegaon are expected to add around 3.8 lakh SCMD of network gas deliverability.
The move comes amid a sharp rise in CNG demand that has caused pressure-related problems at far-end locations, especially during peak hours.
MNGL said the constraints are location-specific and relate to network hydraulics and pressure availability, not a general shortage of CNG.
Pipeline looping at Talegaon completed pre-commissioning on August 12, with commissioning targeted by August 20.
