Bengaluru Toilets Inadequate for Growing Population
A group called B.PAC did a big check of public toilets in Bengaluru.
They found that there aren't enough toilets for all the people living there.
Many toilets are not clean, safe, or easy to use, especially for women and people with disabilities.
They also found that many toilets don't have soap or trash cans, and not many have female caretakers.
B.PAC wants the government to build more toilets and make sure they are well-maintained and safe for everyone to use.
Bengaluru has only one public toilet for every 25,000-30,000 citizens, despite a population exceeding 1.4 crore.
Only 56% of public toilets are adequately lit, raising concerns about women's safety.
37 toilets were found to be non-functional, and only 6 were very clean.
58% of toilets have a persistent foul odor, and 94% are inaccessible to persons with disabilities.
Only 15% of caretakers are women, and none of the toilets have soap dispensers or dustbins.
