Punjab Police arrested two men who they say were carrying illegal guns.

One of them, Mandeep Singh, is a serving member of the Sashastra Seema Bal.

Police say they found seven pistols and 25 bullets with the men.

They believe the weapons came from outside Punjab.

Police also say the men planned to supply guns to criminals.

Investigators linked them to a jailed man and to Harsh, a criminal based in Canada.

Mandeep was on leave from his posting in Uttar Pradesh when he was arrested.

The SSB said it will begin a new departmental inquiry.
