BMC Tender Dispute Turns Violent; Contractors Stabbed In Matunga

Two men got into a very serious fight outside a city government office in Mumbai, India.

The office, called the BMC's F/North Ward office, is in a neighborhood called Matunga and handles building and road work.

The men were upset over who should get a job to do flooring and concrete work in the area.

One man, a contractor, said he got a warning the day before telling him not to take the job.

He said four people then attacked him, stabbed his stomach, and hit him with a bottle.

He had a knife with him, and he chased the attackers, stabbing one man in the leg.

Both men were hurt and had to go to the hospital.

The police found two knives and filed very serious charges, called attempt-to-murder, against both men.

Now the police are trying to figure out who started the fight and why the knives got past the security check.

They are also checking security cameras and have put more police near the office.
