Supreme Court Pulls Up Consumer Forums Over Slow Case Disposal

The Supreme Court is a very important court that makes sure fairness and justice happen.

There are smaller courts called consumer forums that help people who have problems with things they buy.

The leader of the Supreme Court, called the Chief Justice, was not happy with these forums.

He said they are not 'rehabilitation centres for retired judges.'

He heard about a case from 2019 that was waiting for a hearing for a very long time.

That case was listed only once in 2022, and it still had no hearing date by the middle of 2026.

This means the person in that case waited almost four years without being heard.

The Chief Justice asked what is the use of a consumer forum if people have to wait so long.

He wants these forums to work faster so people can get justice sooner.
