The PharmInnova Award celebrates young people doing research in pharmaceutical sciences.

The ceremony took place in Ahmedabad on August 27.

Amit Shah attended as the chief guest.

Students can win awards for research completed during their M.Pharm or PhD studies.

Their academic guides are also recognised because mentors help researchers develop their work.

The awards cover four areas, including drug technology, pharmacology, chemistry and pharmacognosy.

Hundreds of institutions from across India took part this year.

The organisers hope the programme will encourage new ideas for India's pharmaceutical industry.
