82 lakh EPS-95 pensioners can submit Jeevan Pramaan from home
Many grandparents in India get a monthly pension called EPS-95.
Once a year, they must prove they are still alive to keep getting their money.
They do this by sending a special certificate called a Life Certificate, known as Jeevan Pramaan.
Instead of going to a bank, they can now do it from home using a smartphone.
A family member or helper can install two apps called Jeevan Pramaan and AadhaarFaceRD.
The apps take a photo of the person's face to check it matches their Aadhaar identity record.
Once the check succeeds, a digital certificate is created and sent to the agency that pays the pension.
If a pensioner cannot use a smartphone, they can visit a bank or post office, use fingerprint or eye scanning, or ask for doorstep help.
The certificate is valid for 12 months, so it must be renewed every year.
About 82 lakh EPS-95 pensioners must submit Jeevan Pramaan to avoid disruption in pension payments.
Aadhaar-based Face Authentication allows pensioners to generate a Digital Life Certificate from home.
Pensioners need the Jeevan Pramaan and AadhaarFaceRD apps, a valid Aadhaar number, and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
After successful face authentication, a Digital Life Certificate with a unique Pramaan ID is generated and sent via SMS.
Pensioners without smartphones can use family help, bank or post office visits, biometric fingerprint/iris devices, or doorstep banking.
