Submit Annual Life Certificate or EPS Pension Payments Will Stop
Some grandparents get money every month from a government plan called the Employees' Pension Scheme because they used to work.
To keep getting that money, once a year they have to show proof that they are alive.
This proof is called a Life Certificate, and in India it is also known as Jeevan Pramaan.
Without this certificate, the pension money can be stopped the very next month.
The good news is it can start again after the certificate is submitted.
Most people can do it easily using a phone by taking a clear photo of their face and sending it with special apps.
If a grandparent cannot use a phone, family members can help or they can visit a bank or post office.
Some banks even send someone to their home to help them.
The certificate stays valid for 12 months, so it has to be done every year.
If it is late, the missing money is given back once the certificate is received.
More than 85 lakh pensioners receive monthly pensions under the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS-95), with ₹15,819.28 crore disbursed up to 31 March 2026.
Pensioners must submit a Life Certificate or Jeevan Pramaan every 12 months to continue receiving their pension payments.
If a fresh certificate is not submitted before the validity period expires, pension payments can be stopped from the next payment cycle.
Pensions are resumed after a new certificate is submitted and processed, with delayed or held amounts disbursed once authorities receive it.
Certificates can be submitted online via Aadhaar-based face authentication apps, at banks or post offices, or through doorstep services for elderly and immobile pensioners.
