WhatsApp users report global media-sharing issues on Monday
On Monday, many people who use WhatsApp found that they could not send pictures, videos, stickers, or fun GIFs to their friends.
WhatsApp is a messaging app that is backed by the company Meta.
A website called Downdetector, which tracks problems with apps, showed that people started reporting the issue early in the morning.
Some people could still send and receive text messages, but photos and videos would not upload.
The pictures sometimes appeared in the chat but stayed stuck, like a loading sign that never finished.
The problem happened in many countries, including India, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and Colombia.
People tried to fix it by restarting their phones, switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and reinstalling the app.
For many people, none of these tricks worked.
The day before, on Sunday, people also reported problems with WhatsApp.
WhatsApp had not said anything about what was going on.
WhatsApp users in several countries reported issues sharing photos, videos, stickers and GIFs on Monday.
Downdetector data showed 41 per cent of complaints related to messaging, 40 per cent to the app itself and 13 per cent to notifications.
Text messaging continued to work for some users, while multimedia uploads were slow, stuck or failed.
Problems were reported in India, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Spain and Colombia.
WhatsApp had not issued a statement, and the platform also saw service issue reports on Sunday.
