Amazon Launches Alexa+ in India With Hindi, Hinglish Support
Amazon has made a new version of Alexa called Alexa+.
It is designed to have more natural conversations with people.
Users can speak in English, Hindi or a mixture called Hinglish.
They can ask it to control smart-home devices, find entertainment and help with shopping.
Alexa+ can remember some household preferences, such as dietary restrictions.
It can also recognize different family members using voice and visual identification.
More services will soon let it book restaurants, order food and plan travel.
Amazon says users can review recordings and control privacy settings.
Alexa+ is initially free for eligible customers during Early Access.
Amazon has launched Alexa+ in India in Early Access for eligible customers at no additional cost initially.
The AI assistant understands English, Hindi and Hinglish, including Indian expressions, measurements and family terms.
Alexa+ can control compatible smart-home devices, create routines, manage shopping lists and track Amazon deliveries.
Integrations with services including Swiggy, MakeMyTrip, EazyDiner and District by Zomato are planned for bookings and deliveries.
After Early Access, Alexa+ will remain free for Prime members, while other users can access it through a standalone subscription priced at Rs 2,000 per month or a Prime plan.
