Centre Says E20 Fuel Safe For Vehicles In Parliament

E20 is a type of fuel for cars and motorbikes made from petrol and ethanol, which is alcohol that comes from plants.

The government of India told the Rajya Sabha, one part of India's parliament, that E20 fuel is safe to use.

Scientists studied cars that used E20 fuel and found that it does not wear out their engines or parts any faster than normal.

Older cars made before the year 2016 might need a few small rubber pieces replaced during their regular check-ups.

Cars that use E20 fuel may travel slightly fewer kilometres on the same amount of fuel.

Studies showed the fuel efficiency can drop by about 2 to 6 percent.

However, the government says mileage depends on many different things, not just the fuel.

The government also said it has not received any serious complaints about engines or fuel pumps failing because of E20 fuel.

That means most people can use E20 fuel without worrying about their car breaking.
