RPF recovers Rs 3 lakh gold chain left in train
A lady named M Kavitha was travelling on a train when she accidentally forgot her gold necklace under a pillow.
The necklace is called a mangalasutram and is worth about Rs 3 lakh.
When she realised it was missing, she told the Railway Protection Force using the Rail Madad system.
The railway police searched the train and found the necklace exactly where she had left it.
They kept the 24-gram chain safe and informed Kavitha that it had been found.
After finishing her temple visit, Kavitha came to the RPF office in Tirupati with her husband.
The police checked the paperwork and handed the necklace back to her.
Kavitha and her husband thanked the police for acting so quickly.
The precious chain was safely returned to its owner.
The Railway Protection Force at Tirupati recovered a gold mangalasutram chain worth around Rs 3 lakh that a passenger left in a train.
Passenger M Kavitha of Darsi, Prakasam district, filed a Rail Madad complaint after realising she left the chain under a pillow.
The chain was found on Berth No 20 in the B-2 coach of Train No 17261, the Guntur-Tirupati Express, in the Tirupati Yard.
RPF Inspector M Sandeep Kumar supervised the search with ASIPF CS Chetty, Constable KCM Naik and Ex-Serviceman T Delli.
The 24-gram chain was handed back to Kavitha at the RPF Post in Tirupati on Tuesday after verification, and the couple thanked the personnel.
