Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Turns Turner’s Venice Paintings Into Private Art
Jaeger-LeCoultre made four special watches inspired by paintings of Venice by JMW Turner.
The paintings are placed on the hidden side of the watch.
The watch case can flip over, so the artwork is protected when the time is shown.
This flipping feature was first made for polo players in India in 1931.
Each tiny painting takes about 80 hours to create.
Artists use many layers of enamel and heat to make the colors.
The front of each watch also has a carefully engraved and enameled design.
The watches show only the hours and minutes and can run for 42 hours when fully wound.
Each artwork design is limited to ten watches.
Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled four Reverso Tribute Enamel “Turner Series” watches at Homo Faber 2026 in Venice.
Each white-gold watch features a miniature JMW Turner Venetian painting on its reversible case back and is limited to ten pieces.
The miniatures require about 80 hours of work, at least 14 enamel layers, and firing at approximately 800°C.
The watches have hand-guilloché enamel dials, a hand-wound Calibre 822 movement, and 42 hours of power reserve.
The Reverso’s swivelling case was originally designed in 1931 to protect polo players’ watches during matches in India.
