Independence Day 2026: Own A Piece Of History With The Free Press Journal’s August 15, 1947 Edition · freepressjournal.in

Long ago, on August 15, 1947, India became a free country after being ruled by Britain for more than one hundred years.

A newspaper called The Free Press Journal printed a very special edition on that very day.

It showed pictures and stories about India's fight for freedom.

The front page had something called the 'Charter of Freedom,' which said India would be an independent and free republic.

There were pictures of Mahatma Gandhi at the spinning wheel and the Ashoka Pillar.

Even the advertisements in the paper celebrated freedom and the country's new beginning.

Now, many years later, people can buy a copy of that old newspaper again.

It is called a collector's edition.

The special copy has 56 pages and costs 250 rupees.

It is like owning a piece of history from the day India became free.
