Uttar Pradesh Expands Financial Aid to Promote Institutional Deliveries
Uttar Pradesh is encouraging pregnant women to give birth in hospitals and health centers.
The program is called the Janani Suraksha Yojana.
It gives eligible women money to help with delivery-related costs.
Women in rural areas receive ₹1,400, while women in urban areas receive ₹1,000.
From April 1 to August 9, more than 717,000 institutional deliveries were recorded.
Payments had been made to more than 543,000 beneficiaries.
Hospitals can provide trained staff, medicines, blood and emergency care when needed.
Health workers also help women learn about check-ups and reach health facilities safely.
Officials have been asked to make sure every beneficiary receives the payment.
Janani Suraksha Yojana recorded 7,17,736 institutional deliveries from April 1 to August 9.
The scheme provides ₹1,400 to rural women and ₹1,000 to urban women for government-facility deliveries.
Payments had reached 5,43,661 beneficiaries during the reported period.
Several districts, including Hathras, Mainpuri, Jaunpur and Sonbhadra, reported strong implementation.
Officials were directed to remove payment barriers and ensure all beneficiaries receive assistance.
