Out-of-Constituency Beneficiaries Face Removal From Indiramma Housing Scheme

Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said beneficiaries living outside their designated constituencies will be removed from the Indiramma Housing scheme.
The government says houses should be built where poor families live, near their workplaces and livelihoods, rather than relocating them 30 to 40 kilometres away.
Officials are conducting door-to-door physical verifications, and non-residents identified during the process will have their names deleted.
The first phase covers 4.50 lakh houses, requiring about Rs 22,500 crore, while the second phase covers 2.50 lakh houses at Rs 11,000 crore.
The government plans to spend more than Rs 40,000 crore across two instalments for nearly eight lakh houses and may consider increasing the Rs 5 lakh assistance.
