Mediation Council of India Takes Shape, But Work Remains
India has taken a step toward creating a system for resolving disagreements through mediation.
Mediation means helping people settle a dispute without going through a full court case.
A notification has put part of the Mediation Act, 2023, into effect.
It also creates the institutional framework for the Mediation Council of India.
However, the Council’s members have not yet been appointed.
Other parts of the law also still need to start working.
