Rs 6.23 Crore Railway Funds to Modernise Guntur's Mondigate Drainage

A city called Guntur has a place called Mondigate where the drainage system is very old and does not work well.

When it rained a lot, the dirty water and sewage overflowed and went into people's houses.

The government decided to fix this problem.

A minister and a local leader came to Guntur and officially started the work by laying a foundation stone.

The drainage system will be made bigger so it can hold more water: 50,000 litres instead of about 30,000 litres.

The money, about 6.23 crore rupees, is coming from the Railways.

Work will be done in four places, including Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Gottala Road, Venkatarama Theatre and Ziauddin Nagar.

This will help more than 50,000 families and also farmers whose fields were damaged by the overflowing water.

Some of the work will be finished after the monsoon, which is the rainy season.
