Centre Fast-Tracks LPG-to-PNG Switch for 4.1 Million Homes
The government wants more families to use PNG, which comes through pipes, instead of LPG cylinders.
More than 41 lakh homes are being considered for this change.
However, only about 4.4 lakh families have applied so far.
About 3.3 lakh new PNG connections are already working.
Officials have sent messages, notices, and held camps to explain the change.
The effort became more urgent after problems affected LPG supplies during the West Asia conflict.
India makes only part of the LPG it uses and imports much of the rest.

More than 41 lakh households are being targeted for immediate LPG-to-PNG conversion, but only 4.4 lakh eligible consumers have applied.
Connections for 3.3 lakh consumers have been activated across 72,000-plus housing societies in 311 geographical areas.
Outreach included WhatsApp messages to over 21 lakh households, physical notices to around eight lakh, and more than 33,000 camps.
The drive intensified after West Asia supply disruptions, as India imports much of its LPG, largely from the region.
From September 1, eligible city gas distributors will receive additional lower-priced domestic gas for qualifying new PNG connections.
