Hyderabad Clears More Than 24 Tonnes of Ganesh Idol Waste
After 11 days of Ganesh celebrations, many idols were immersed in Hyderabad’s lakes and water bodies.
This left behind flowers, पूजा materials, decorations and other waste.
Three municipal corporations worked to clean the water bodies.
Together, they collected more than 24 tonnes of waste.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation collected 11.5 tonnes.
Cyberabad collected six tonnes, and Malkajgiri collected 6.5 tonnes.
Thousands of sanitation workers helped with the cleanup.
Special machines were also used to remove floating waste from Tank Bund.
Officials said the cleanup could take two to three days.
The tri-municipal corporations collected over 24 tonnes of debris after Ganesh idol immersions.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation collected 11.5 tonnes, while Cyberabad and Malkajgiri collected six and 6.5 tonnes.
Waste included garlands, puja materials, decorative items, coloured paper, coconuts and idol-support materials.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation deployed 136 Ganesh Action Teams and about 6,000 sanitation workers.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority used floating trash collectors and an amphibious excavator at Tank Bund.
