Hyderabad Prepares for Ganesh Idol Immersion Under New Civic Setup
Hyderabad is preparing for Ganesh Chaturthi idol immersions.
This is the first festival since parts of the city were placed under new municipal corporations.
Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations are working with police and other departments.
Together, they will provide 141 places where idols can be immersed.
They will also use 275 cranes to move the idols safely.
More than 3,000 sanitation workers and hundreds of mobile toilets will be available.
Large crowds are expected at Hussainsagar, Tank Bund and several lakes.
Officials are also arranging drinking water, lighting, sanitation and emergency support.
This will be Hyderabad’s first Ganesh festival under the reorganised municipal administration.
Three corporations will operate 141 immersion centres with 275 cranes and 3,264 sanitation workers.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will manage 47 centres, including Hussainsagar, with 110 cranes.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation expects about 1.3 lakh devotees and will deploy 81 cranes.
Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation will operate 40 centres, while major crowds are expected at four lakes.
