Ashok Leyland Q1 profit rises to Rs 609 crore
Ashok Leyland is a big company in India that makes trucks and buses.
It just told everyone how much money it made in the first three months of its business year.
It made about 609 crore rupees in profit, which is a little more than it made during the same time last year.
It also sold the most trucks and buses it has ever sold in a first quarter, 48,763 vehicles.
Selling all those vehicles brought in more than 9,600 crore rupees, about 10 percent more than last year.
But compared to the last three months of the previous year, its profit went down quite a lot.
The company says this happened because it kept its costs low and people still want to buy its vehicles.
The company boss, Dheeraj Hinduja, says the future looks good because the government is helping modernize old fleets.
He also said the company's electric bus and truck business, Switch Mobility, is growing and doing well.
Ashok Leyland's Q1FY27 consolidated net profit rose 2.59% year-on-year to Rs 609.11 crore from Rs 593.73 crore in Q1FY26.
Revenue from operations grew 10.43% YoY to Rs 9,634.35 crore, compared with Rs 8,724.51 crore a year earlier.
Commercial vehicle volumes hit a record high of 48,763 units in Q1FY27, up from 44,238 units in the same quarter last year.
Sequentially, net profit fell sharply by 54.64% from Rs 1,404.72 crore in Q4FY26, while revenue dropped 31.96% from Rs 14,160.49 crore.
Chairman Dheeraj Hinduja cited robust demand, disciplined execution, cost management, the Parivartan initiative, Switch Mobility, international markets and the Defence business as growth drivers.
