Venad Express to Add LWS Coaches in Two Phases
The Venad Express is a train used by many people travelling in Kerala.
It is planned to get 10 new, larger-capacity coaches starting October 9.
From October 15, the number of these coaches is expected to rise to 14.
Each new coach can carry more seated and standing passengers than an existing coach.
P K Krishnadas said the changes are meant to help with crowding.
The Railways is also planning new platform roofs at Sasthamkotta and Karunagappally stations.
The Railway Minister said another train could be considered if the changes do not solve the crowding.
The Venad Express is scheduled to receive 10 higher-capacity LWS coaches from October 9.
The second phase is set to increase the number of LWS coaches to 14 from October 15.
BJP national executive member P K Krishnadas said the changes aim to ease passenger congestion.
