Tamil Nadu Announces New-Age School Curriculum From 2027-28
Tamil Nadu plans to change what students learn in government schools starting in 2027-28.
The new lessons will focus on thinking, solving problems, creativity and technology.
Schools and public libraries will work together so children can read newspapers and suitable books.
Some students will use artificial intelligence tools that adjust lessons to their learning speed.
A program called Thiran Plus will help students who have trouble learning letters and numbers.
Other programs will offer coaching for entrance to leading colleges and use tests that measure understanding.
Schools will receive science equipment and opportunities to learn about business and innovation.
Some schools will also receive sports facilities and expert coaching.
A new curriculum emphasizing analytical thinking, reasoning, innovation and emerging technology will begin from classes I to XII in 2027-28.
Government schools and public libraries will be linked to provide newspapers and age-appropriate books to students.
AI-powered adaptive learning will initially reach students in classes VI to VIII across 500 government middle schools.
The Thiran Plus, Vetri Paathai and competency-based assessment schemes will support learning, higher-education preparation and critical thinking.
Science labs, innovation programs, joyful learning initiatives and Sports Plus schools will be expanded across government schools.
