Officials in Delhi celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday as Seva Diwas, meaning a day focused on service.

They lit 1.25 lakh small clay lamps at Vijay Chowk.

The lamps represented service, dedication and building the nation.

People connected with government welfare programs, employees, students and teachers joined the event.

Another celebration took place at Lodhi Colony Park.

Nirmala Sitharaman helped begin a project called Bharat Van there.

The project will use the Miyawaki method to grow a dense urban forest.

Officials said the forest should add greenery and help support cleaner air in Delhi.
