A man named Ramakrishna T was traveling from Chennai to New Delhi on a train that was supposed to arrive early in the morning.

The train was diverted for signal work, but he was not told about it.

Because of the 16‑hour delay, he missed an important meeting and had to buy a new flight.

The consumer court said the railway should have informed him and ordered the railway to pay him Rs 35,000.

The railway will pay Rs 25,000 as compensation and Rs 10,000 for costs, but if they don’t pay in 45 days, interest will be added.
