Vadodara Shaman Arrested After Woman’s Suicide Following Tantric Rituals
Police in Vadodara arrested a man who called himself a shaman.
They say he performed tantric rituals for a woman who was believed to be ill.
Police also allege that he had a relationship with her and helped lead her to take an extreme step.
The woman allegedly drank rat poison in December 2025.
She died while receiving treatment at SSG Hospital on January 6, 2026.
Police say the shaman had cut her hair during a ritual.
They also say he gave her a garland, perfume, honey, and coins.
He has been charged with helping cause a suicide and using fear of divine punishment to influence someone.
Vadodara police arrested self-styled shaman Girish alias Bapu Parmar on August 18.
Police allege Parmar drove a 28-year-old woman to suicide through a relationship and tantric rituals.
The woman allegedly consumed rat poison in December 2025 and died at SSG Hospital on January 6, 2026.
The woman worked as a manager at a photo studio in Karelibaug.
Parmar faces charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 108 and 354.
