Thane Man Dies by Suicide During Video Call; Four Booked
A 32-year-old man named Majid Sayyed lived in a place called Nagaon, in the city of Thane in India.
His mother, brother, and other family members lived in a nearby area called Mumbra.
Majid was very upset because he had gotten into trouble with people who sell drugs.
On August 13, during an argument with those drug sellers, he hurt himself with a razor blade.
His family came to help, but he got angry and hurt his wife, so everyone went back home.
Very early the next morning, at about 4:45, he made a video call to his mother and brother.
In the call, they saw him hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta, which is a long scarf.
His family rushed over, broke open the door, and took him to the hospital, but doctors said he had already died.
Before he died, he recorded a video message saying four men kept asking him for money and harassing him until he could not take the mental stress anymore.
The police registered a case against those four men, and their investigation is still going on.

Shil-Daighar (Daighar) Police booked the four men for abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on the victim's brother's complaint and the video evidence.
A day earlier, on August 13, Sayyed had argued with local drug sellers and inflicted self-harm with a razor blade; police said the probe is underway and no arrests have been made.
