Gold, silver rates today, August 16: Latest prices in Indian cities
Gold is a shiny metal that many people love to wear as jewellery and also buy as a way to save money.
Today, on August 16, 2026, the price of gold in India was different depending on the city and how pure the gold was.
Pure 24-karat gold cost about ₹1.53 lakh for 10 grams in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The slightly less pure 22-karat gold, which is often used for jewellery because it is stronger, cost about ₹1.40 lakh for 10 grams in those cities.
Silver, another precious metal, was also sold at different prices in different cities, with Chennai having the highest silver rate.
Big jewellery shops set their own prices for each gram of gold, so the price can be a little different at each shop.
One expert thinks gold might become more expensive in the next week or two.
People watch these prices because gold and silver are valuable and their rates change almost every day.
24-karat gold rates on August 16, 2026 were reported at ₹1,53,030 per 10 grams in Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai, and ₹1,52,880 in Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
