Odisha NRI Couple Missing After Nepal Flash Floods, Officials Say
An Odisha couple who lives in Australia is missing in Nepal after severe flash floods.
Their names are Sandeep Mohapatra and Sidharthi Kumari Sahu.
They arrived in Nepal on August 22.
Sandeep last spoke with his family on August 25 while travelling near the Tibet border.
Since then, their phones have been switched off.
Officials, the couple’s family, and authorities are trying to find them.
A football team from Bhubaneswar was also temporarily unreachable.
Officials later confirmed that the players were safe in Pokhara, away from the flooded area.
Sandeep Mohapatra and Sidharthi Kumari Sahu, originally from Odisha’s Khurda district, are missing in Nepal after flash floods.
The couple has lived in Australia since 2018 and entered Nepal on August 22 to visit tourist spots.
Sandeep last spoke with his family on the evening of August 25 while travelling by bus near the Tibet border.
Officials said the couple’s mobile phones are switched off and efforts to contact them continue.
A Bhubaneswar football team was confirmed safe in Pokhara, while a Puri resident and two associates returned to India.
