Families Await News as Nepal Floods Leave Pilgrims Unaccounted
Flash floods hit parts of Nepal on August 26.
Many roads, communication systems and other infrastructure were damaged.
Families in India and other countries are waiting to learn whether their relatives are safe.
Some missing people were travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.
Nepal listed 743 tourists connected with the floods.
Officials said 121 had been rescued, while 622 were still out of communication.
These numbers do not mean that all the missing people have died.
Authorities and state officials are continuing to check people’s whereabouts and support rescue efforts.

Several pilgrims and tourists travelling toward the Nepal–Tibet border for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage lost contact after communications were disrupted.
Nepal listed 743 tourists from 36 countries, including 183 Indians; 121 were rescued and 622 remained out of communication.
At least five people from Kolkata and Howrah, along with several labourers working in Nepal, were reported missing.
Kharaj Mukherjee and Manasi Parekh separately reported reaching safety after avoiding or leaving areas affected by the floods.
