Bhagwant Mann spares rivals, warns those disturbing Punjab peace

On India's Independence Day, the leader of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, gave a big speech in the city of Ferozepur.

He said that people who try to spread hate and disturb the peace will not succeed in Punjab.

He reminded everyone that Punjab helped India become free and that the Partition of the country caused great sadness.

The leader talked about a government program that gives money to mothers and daughters in Punjab.

Under the program, women get 1,000 rupees each month, and women from Scheduled Caste families get 1,500 rupees.

He said millions of women have signed up, and the government has already given money to most of them.

He also talked about health clinics where many people have gotten free medical help.

Punjab will host a big hockey championship in October, and a sports event will start on September 5.

Some teachers came to protest against the government, but police held them back so they could not enter the event.
