Godavari Floods Subside in Mulugu District, Warnings Withdrawn
The Godavari river in Mulugu district got very high because of heavy rain, so the government warned people about floods.
The river reached its highest point on July 31, but by August 1 it had gone back down to normal levels.
Because of this, the flood warnings were taken away.
People who had been staying in relief camps could go back home.
The government and rescue teams are fixing roads and restoring power and water in the villages that were flooded.
Flood warnings at Ramannagudem were issued on July 31 and withdrawn by August 1 as river levels fell from 17.33m to 14.82m.
The Godavari river’s peak level reached 17.33 metres on July 31, prompting a third warning, before receding to normal levels by Sunday.
District officials, NDRF, SDRF, police, and media coordinated relief, with residents returning to homes after staying in camps.
Damage assessment and restoration of power, water, and services are underway in affected villages such as Mulugu, Eturnagaram, and Palimela.
Traffic disruptions remain on National Highway‑163 near Wazeedu mandal, but work is ongoing to clear flood damage.
