Maharashtra may release ₹3,000 Ladki Bahin instalment ahead of festival
Maharashtra gives money to women every month through a scheme called the Ladki Bahin Yojana.
Women aged 21 to 65 whose families earn less than ₹2.5 lakh a year can get ₹1,500 each month directly in their bank accounts.
Many women are still waiting for their July payment.
The government is thinking about paying the July and August instalments together, which would give ₹3,000 at once.
This might happen before Raksha Bandhan or around Independence Day, but nothing is officially confirmed yet.
Some reports say the payment could come on 15 August or as late as 20 August.
The government also checked who really qualifies for the money through an e-KYC verification.
About 81 lakh people were removed from the list, according to an MLA named Rohit Pawar.
Now around 1.66 crore to 1.77 crore women remain on the list.
The Maharashtra government may credit a combined ₹3,000 payment covering the pending July and August instalments of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, according to a senior Women and Child Development Department official.
The proposed double instalment has not been officially confirmed, and beneficiaries await an official announcement.
The monthly ₹1,500 assistance is generally expected by the 15th of each month, with speculation pointing to a release on 15 or 20 August.
The scheme, launched in July 2024, offers ₹1,500 monthly to women aged 21-65 from families with annual income below ₹2.5 lakh, paid directly into bank accounts.
An e-KYC verification reportedly removed nearly 81 lakh ineligible names, reducing beneficiaries from about 2.47 crore to between 1.66 crore and 1.77 crore, per NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar's claim.
