Odisha Lok Bhavan Earns India’s First Platinum Green Campus Certification
Odisha Lok Bhavan is the official residence and office of the state’s Governor.
It has received the highest Platinum green rating from the Indian Green Building Council.
This makes it the first Governor’s campus in India to receive this rating.
The campus uses solar panels to make electricity and has many trees and green spaces.
It also saves water by collecting rainwater and recharging groundwater.
Electric vehicles and charging stations are used on the campus.
Waste is separated and much of it is composted or recycled.
The buildings use energy-saving lights and systems to reduce electricity use.
The Governor hopes other schools, universities and government offices will copy these environmentally friendly ideas.
Odisha Lok Bhavan became the country’s first Governor’s campus to receive IGBC Platinum certification.
The campus scored 88 out of 100 under the revised IGBC Green Campus v1 rating system.
More than 80% of the campus is landscaped, with 2,374 trees across 72 species.
A 635-kWp solar system, electric vehicles and water-saving measures support its green transition.
Officials said the recognition could encourage other institutions to adopt sustainable practices.
