Rs 334.89-Crore Flyover Approved to Ease Visakhapatnam Port Traffic

A big port in Visakhapatnam, a city in India, needs to move cargo like containers and goods in and out smoothly.

But the roads and train tracks inside the port cross each other, which causes many delays.

Trucks and trains often have to stop and wait while gates close again and again.

The government has now approved a big bridge, called a flyover, to fix this problem.

The bridge will be about 3.5 kilometers long and will let vehicles drive over the train tracks.

This separates road traffic from rail traffic so fewer stops are needed.

The plan was approved by the ports minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, who said it fits with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for better port infrastructure.

The project will also include electrical works, safety installations and five years of maintenance.

It will take about 30 months to build the flyover.

When it is done, the port will be faster and less congested, helping move cargo more quickly.
