IMD warns of heavy rainfall in Bengal
The weather department in India, called the IMD, says there will be a lot of rain in the northern and southern parts of Bengal.
This rain might cause landslides in the hilly areas and floods in the low-lying areas.
The rivers like Teesta, Torsa, Jaldhaka, and Raidak might also rise.
Some places like Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar will get the most rain.
The capital city, Kolkata, will have cloudy skies with some light rain.
The rain started on Saturday and will continue for the next few days.
The place called Chepan in Alipurduar got the most rain, which was 15 cm in just 24 hours.
IMD warns of heavy rainfall in north and south Bengal due to an active southwest monsoon.
Landslides and flash floods are possible in hilly and low-lying areas respectively.
Rivers like Teesta, Torsa, Jaldhaka, and Raidak may see rising water levels.
Extremely heavy rain expected in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar, with very heavy rain in other sub-Himalayan districts and heavy rain in Gangetic plains.
Chepan in Alipurduar recorded the highest rainfall in Bengal with 15 cm in 24 hours.
