Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast Across Bengal Over Next 48 Hours
A weather system over the Bay of Bengal is bringing more rain to Bengal.
The India Meteorological Department says heavy rain may occur over the next two days.
Most of South Bengal could receive light or moderate rain.
Some areas may get very heavy showers.
Thunderstorms and strong winds are possible in coastal districts and Kolkata.
Several districts have been placed under a thunderstorm warning for Tuesday.
North Bengal may also receive heavy rain in several places.
Rainy conditions are expected to continue in parts of Bengal through the week.
The India Meteorological Department forecast heavy rain in several South Bengal districts over the next 48 hours.
Jhargram and Purulia may receive isolated heavy showers, while coastal districts could see thunderstorms and winds of 40–50 km/h.
Kolkata and other districts may experience thundershowers and gusty winds reaching 30–40 km/h.
The weather office issued a thunderstorm warning for nine South Bengal districts on Tuesday.
Heavy rain is also expected in parts of North Bengal, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar.
