NITI Aayog Proposes Industrial Clusters to Boost India's Global Manufacturing
NITI Aayog is a special team of experts that helps the government of India make big plans.
They have a new idea for how India can make lots of things and sell them to the world.
They want to build big industrial parks where many factories sit together and share roads, electricity and other useful things.
When factories share, it costs less money to make products.
India has many young people who need good jobs, and making things in factories can give them work.
The team wrote a big study listing 12 kinds of products where India could become a world leader by the year 2047.
Some of these products are phones, medicines, cars, clothes and solar panels.
The experts also said India should not depend too much on other countries for important parts.
Right now, almost all the solar panels India sells to other countries go to just one country, the United States.
The plan says India should make more of its own important materials and sell to more different countries too.
NITI Aayog has proposed cluster-based manufacturing and integrated industrial parks to help India achieve scale, cut production costs and strengthen its global manufacturing position.
Its study identifies 12 sectors where India could seek global leadership by 2047, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles and solar photovoltaics.
The report recommends reducing import dependence, boosting domestic value addition, encouraging joint ventures and technology transfers, and improving labour productivity.
The US accounted for 97% of India's solar module exports between 2019-20 and 2025-26, prompting calls to expand polysilicon and wafer production and diversify export destinations.
For textiles, NITI Aayog urged skilling, technology adoption and a shift towards man-made fibres to help achieve a $100 billion export target by 2029-30.
